Quit India Movement (1942)
♦The Congress at its Bombay session, held on 8th August, 1942, passed the 'Quit India Resolution' whereby Gandhiji asked the British to Quit India and gave a slogan of 'Do or Die' .
Indian National Army(1943)
♦General Mohan Singh founded Indian National Army.
♦Subhash Chandra Bose escaped to Berlin in 1941 and set-up the Indian League there. In July, 1943, he joined the INA at Singapore and Ras Bihari Bose handed over the leadership to him.
♦INA had three fighting brigades, named after Gandhi, Azad and Nehru. Rani of Jhansi Brigade was an exclusive women force. INA had its headquarters at Rangoon and Singapore.
Cabinet Mission (1946)
♦ The Cabinet Mission was sent to India in 1946 to make recommendations regarding Constitution reforms in India.
♦Its members were Lord Pethick Lawrence, Stafford Cripps and AV Alexander.
♦ It recommended the setting up of interim government and a Constituent assembly.
Interim Government (1946)
♦ An interim government was formed on 2nd September, 1946.
♦ It was headed by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Muslim League did not joined it.
Mountbatten Plan (1947)
♦The Mountbatten Plan was announced on 3rd June, 1947 by Lord Mountbatten (replaced Lord Wavell).
♦ It is also known as 3rd June plan. It proposed the partition of India and independence of Indian .
Independence Act (1947)
♦ Indian Independence Act of 1947 was Act of the British Parliament that partitioned India into two independent dominions: India and Pakistan
